BMC Fundamentals

The British Mountaineering Council has been running Fundamentals courses for a number of years now.  This is the first stage in the Long Term Athlete Development programme.  Fundamentals teaches the basic skills necessary to build the foundation of a climber.  Katherine has delivered these courses in Northern Ireland, Swindon, London and Crowthorne, Berkshire.  The courses are targeted at people who already teach climbing but want to improve their ability to coach movement skills.  If you are interested in one of the courses below or want to arrange a course to be run at your local wall, contact jon@thebmc.co.uk.  The next course Katherine will be running is:

BMC Learn to Train

The second part to the Long Term Athlete Development programme is Learn to Train.  In this course we will look more in detail at the techniques and movement that can be learnt in a climber's development concentrating on footwork, handholds, specific techniques, steep rock, and onsighting skills.  This is a brand new course that we are in the process of developing.  The pilot date for this course is:

24th February 2010
