Terms and Conditions

General Conditions

  1. ‘Lovetoclimb’ is the name given to the website and brand associated with courses and holidays.  However all transactions will be with Katherine Schirrmacher as an individual rather than lovetoclimb as a company.
  2. The coaching holidays and courses run by lovetoclimb are for people aged over 18 apart from the Rock Action course which is for people aged 12-17.
  3. Unless stated, all courses are only suitable for people with climbing experience.  In terms of routes clients should at the very minimum be able to tie on and belay competently.  For holidays abroad you should be able to climb French 5 on bolted climbs.  If you are climbing below this level lovetoclimb cannot accept responsibility if the holiday does not reach your expectations.
  4. In one to one or personal coaching situations each individual’s experience will be taken into account and appropriate coaching given.
  5. Rock climbing is a hazardous activity with a danger of personal injury or death.  Although we take every care to minimise these risks, participants on lovetoclimb courses should be aware of and accept these risks and be responsible for their own actions and involvement.  Clients should accept that accidents and injuries can happen.
  6. Clients taking part in courses must expect that rock climbing can be strenuous.  Clients are expected to be in good health.  The medical section must be completed in the booking process.  All prior injuries and/or serious illnesses must be declared.  Any injury or illness occurring between the time of the declaration and the commencement of the course must be reported.  Lovetoclimb reserves the right to refuse a booking on medical grounds if it is considered to be detrimental to the safety and smooth running of the course.
  7. Lovetoclimb will not be responsible for illness or uninsured losses of client property whilst on a course, holiday or on a one to one coaching day.
  8. Clients must accept responsibility for all personal items and climbing equipment.  At times clients will use other clients’ climbing equipment, particularly ropes and quickdraws on foreign holidays.  If clients are unhappy about this they must make this clear before using that equipment.  Lovetoclimb will not be providing any climbing equipment for any coaching holidays abroad.
  9. Photos will be taken on courses and may possibly be used on promotional material and the lovetoclimb website.  Clients must say at the time if they do not wish their photos to be used in this way.

Booking conditions

  1. In order to book a place on a lovetoclimb holiday you should pay a £150 non-refundable deposit.  For the Rock Action course the deposit is £50
  2. For all courses where the total cost is less than £150 the whole payment must be paid upfront.
  3. For all one to one coaching days, the client may choose to pay either in advance or on the day.
  4. On receipt of a booking form lovetoclimb will send you a confirmation email with details of kit lists, further information about the course/holiday and outstanding balance.
  5. Having paid the deposit for a holiday, the outstanding balance will be due 8 weeks prior to the course date.  Lovetoclimb will contact you to make you aware of this.  If payment is not received it will be treated as a cancellation.
  6. If booking less than 8 weeks prior to the lovetoclimb holiday start date the total payment will be due.
  7. Payments for courses and holidays can either be paid by cheque, bank transfer or via credit/debit card online.  Cheques must be made payable to Love to Climb and sent to 110 Sandford Grove Road, Sheffield S7 1RT.
  8. On booking holidays abroad, clients will be advised whether to go ahead with booking travel or not.  Clients will be advised when to purchase flights when lovetoclimb is certain that the trip will run.  In the case of a holiday being cancelled, lovetoclimb holds no responsibility for travel purchases lost if clients have not yet been advised to purchase travel and the holiday is cancelled.
  9. All clients booking on overseas holidays must provide their own travel insurance.  This must include cover for medical expenses, personal accident, repatriation, cancellation and curtailment.  You are required to provide lovetoclimb with a copy of your insurance prior to the commencement on the course.  Lovetoclimb recommends the British Mountaineering Council Insurance.
  10. When making your booking it is implied and accepted that you have read and understood these conditions, particularly those applying to cancellation and agree to abide by them.

Cancellation by the client

  1. All cancellations must be made in writing and will be effective from the date of receipt by lovetoclimb.
  2. In the event of lovetoclimb being able to re-sell your place on a course the full course fee will be refunded minus the deposit.
  3. In the event of lovetoclimb being unable to re-sell your place on a holiday, refunds will apply as follows:
    a. The full course fee minus the deposit will be refunded if cancellation takes place over 8 weeks prior to the course start date.
    b. 50% of the course fee will be refunded if cancellation takes place less than 8 weeks prior to the course start date
    c. None of the course fee will be refunded if cancellation takes places less than 4 weeks prior to the course start date

Cancellation by lovetoclimb

  1. Lovetoclimb will make every attempt to ensure that the holidays run, however lovetoclimb reserves the right to cancel if there are insufficient numbers.  In such a case lovetoclimb will notify clients as soon as possible but no less than 1 week prior to the start of the holiday.
  2. In the event of lovetoclimb cancelling a course the client shall be entitled to:
    a. A full refund of all course fees for holiday abroad
    b. Equivalent value or part value one to one coaching in the UK
  3. Lovetoclimb will not refund any travel costs abroad e.g. flights.
  4. If in any case the lovetoclimb coaches (Katherine Schirrmacher and Steve McClure) are unable to attend a coaching holiday due to illness, injury or unforeseen circumstances, every effort will be found to find an alternative coach.
